Centenary Job Opportunities

Administrative Coordinator

Performs secretarial and clerical duties and related duties requiring the application of departmental policy and procedure, maintains records, and schedules appointments and events. The Administrative Coordinator educates students on topics related to health and wellness and provides administrative support for the Director of Counseling and Disability Service and the Director of Integrated Advising.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collect and maintain immunization records for all students and assist with issues related to Centenary-provided insurance plans and/or wellness benefits. Serve as the campus LINKS coordinator.
  • Provide contact information for local health care providers to students seeking medical attention and provide access to over-the-counter medication. The Administrative Coordinator is not a health care provider and does not maintain medical records or provide medical services.
  • Schedule and coordinate blood drives on campus.
  • Coordinate educational outreach activities related to services provided.
  • Type letters, reports, records and other documents from rough drafts, corrected copy, dictated material, and/or recordings; proofread completed materials; compile payroll related information.
  • Assist in the compilation and maintenance of department records; compile information based on general instructions; prepare and type related reports.
  • Review and distribute incoming correspondence and departmental mail; reply to routine correspondence. Schedule meetings and arrange appointments; coordinate special meetings and events and develop promotional material for these events.
  • Assist and train students with disabilities with assistive technology.
  • Operates and maintains office equipment and assistive technology equipment.
  • Greet visitors, answer telephones, and take messages and replies to questions in accordance with general instructions. Assist in managing the flow of students coming to obtain services. Is responsible for the scheduling of student workers and making assignments.
  • The Administrative Coordinator must be available to work during the summer advising weeks.
  • Other related projects, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary.

Supervises student workers.

Assistant Director of Library Services

Centenary College invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Library Services. Working in the College’s main library, the John F. Magale Memorial Library, the Assistant Director supports the mission and functions of the College by providing and supporting student, faculty, and staff access and user privileges to adequate library collections and services and to other learning/information resources consistent with the mission of the College . This Assistant Director reports directly to the Director of Library Services.

The Assistant Director will supervise and oversee all library technical services and administer library systems and electronic access to online databases and other library online resources for the benefit of students, faculty and staff.  This position involves extensive circulation, information literacy instruction, reference, and collection development duties.  In addition, the Assistant Director will explore, evaluate, and implement innovative best practices in 21st century information literacy and library functions. Importantly, the Assistant Director serves as the liaison to academic departments.

A Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science, or equivalent, from an ALA accredited institution and exceptional written and oral communication skills are required for this position. The Assistant Director functions as the head librarian when the Director of Library Services is not available.

Assistant Professor of Biology

Centenary College of Louisiana invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the Biology Department beginning August 2019. 

We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate excellence in teaching and scholarship in biology, are deeply committed to teaching in a liberal arts environment, and will direct an active undergraduate research program. Candidates for this position must be broadly trained in Ecology with preferences for candidates with a molecular background. There will be an opportunity to develop at least two upper-level courses, which may include, but is not limited to topics such as conservation, bioinformatics, toxicology, population genetics, etc. The successful candidate will also teach in a guided-inquiry, studio-format context, including courses in introductory biology. Ph.D. in an appropriate field is required. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is preferred. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Assistant Professor of Economics

The Frost School of Business at Centenary College of Louisiana is seeking qualified candidates for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position starting Fall 2019, to teach introductory macroeconomics, intermediate macroeconomics, statistics for business and economics, undergraduate econometrics, and economic electives of his or her choice. The ideal candidate is an accomplished teacher and scholar who is committed to undergraduate research and will be expected to participate in the preparation and guidance of Economics majors as they submit their research for presentation at the Economics Scholars Program hosted by the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank. In addition, the unique format of the Centenary schedule, where each semester consists of a regular term and an immersion term, allows faculty to be creative in developing departmental and interdisciplinary course offerings, including courses for college-wide programs such as First-Year Experience and Centenary in Paris, taught on a rotational basis with other faculty. A Ph.D. is required at the time of employment.

Assistant Professor of History

Centenary College of Louisiana invites applications for a tenure-track history position at the rank of assistant professor to begin 1 August 2019.  Candidates should be broadly trained in U.S. history and prepared to teach a range of introductory and upper division courses representing a long chronological timespan.  Preference will be given to candidates with specializations in Twentieth-Century United States/Southern History.  Strong teaching skills, a commitment to scholarship, and student mentoring are required.  The standard teaching load is six courses per year, with some opportunity to teach in immersive May and August terms, and to participate in college-wide programs such as the first year experience (TREK) program and Centenary in Paris.  A completed Ph.D. by August 2019 is required.

Voice/Opera/Music Theatre: Responsibilities will include directing a major music theatre or opera production in collaboration with the theatre department, teaching opera workshop and applied voice. Other responsibilities, such as diction for singers or music literature may be included, commensurate with the candidate’s expertise. Terminal degree preferred; master’s or ABD required. Assistant Women's Basketball Coach (Part-Time)

Provides assistance with coaching of the Women’s Basketball team and all facets of the program, particularly in the areas of monitoring academic progress, individual workouts, scouting, practice planning and travel planning. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assists the Head Coach with the organization, administration and implementation of the Women’s Basketball program.
Works with the Head Coach in recruiting student athletes for the basketball team.
Participates in organizing and supervising, practices and games.
Directs pre-season conditioning program for student athletes.
Establishes daily practice routines to include condition, running and scrimmages.
Over 25 percent travel required travel with the team to ensure the players are prepared for the game and to support team competitions and recruiting. Works with Head Coach to coordinate the travel plans for the team.
Scouts upcoming opponents at the discretion of the Head Coach and within the College, NCAA and the Conference (if applicable) guidelines.
Works with Head Coach to develop a game plan for upcoming opponents.
Assists the Head Coach with directing and coordinating activities, ensuring compliance with the NCAA and Centenary College guidelines.
Collaborates in the organizing, promoting and conducting summer camp activities and various other camps and clinics throughout the year.
Monitors student athletes’ academic progress.
Monitoring of Athletic facilities as assigned by Athletic Director
Other related projects, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary. 

As an institutional staff member actively involved with NCAA Division III prospects, student-athletes, and athletic department personnel, you are responsible to uphold all conference and NCAA rules and regulations. In accordance with NCAA bylaw 11.1, you are responsible to report any known violations and will be held accountable for any violations committed within your department.

Must be able to obtain First Aid/ CPR/ AED certification.
Must be able to obtain college driving clearance.
Must be able to operate a computer.

Master’s Degree
5 or more years as a competitive player or experience in basketball coaching.
Specific experience with campus admission/recruiting office, NCAA compliance, event management, outdoor field management, or coaching in another sport.
Experience in a NCAA Division III program.

Police Officer (Part-Time)

Ensures the safety of students, employees and guests in the controlled and assigned areas of property and functions related to the College, continuously enforces campus policies and state laws, and provides a community policing culture to the campus and its environs.
