November 18, 2016

SHREVEPORT, LA — On November 29, Centenary College of Louisiana will participate in #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Centenary is participating in the #GivingTuesday event for the second year and has set a $25,000 fundraising goal for the day.

“Giving Tuesday is a tremendous opportunity for our constituencies to offer their financial support to the College as we head towards the end of the calendar year,” says Fred Landry, Vice President for Development. “We also utilize this event to help educate our students about the importance of philanthropy and to highlight for our alumni and friends of the College Centenary’s important role in their lives and in the Shreveport-Bossier community.”

#GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and follows the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  The event kicks off the holiday giving season and inspires people to collaborate in improving their local communities by giving back to the charities and causes they support.

Starting November 29th at 12:00 a.m., Centenary supporters can visit Centenary.edu/GivingTuesday to make a donation as part of #CentenaryGivingTuesday. Thanks to a generous donor, all donations made between 12:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on the 29th will be matched dollar for dollar up to the $25,000 goal.
