SHREVEPORT, LA — Two senior vocal students of Dr. Gale Odom will give a joint recital on Friday, March 17 at 5:00 p.m. in the Anderson Auditorium of Centenary College’s Hurley School of Music. The concert is free and open to the public and is part of a series of “open house” events being highlighted during the week of the inauguration of the College’s 31st president, Dr. Christopher L. Holoman.

Basses Matthieu St. Romain and Travion Davis will sing a program of music ranging from Handel’s fiery aria, “Si, tra i ceppi” and excerpts from Vaughan Williams’ “Songs of Travel” to the John Jacob Niles’ very American “The Gambling Songs,” and other literature by Hall Johnson and Stephen Sondheim. Both students will graduate from Centenary in May of 2017, Davis with a BA in history, and St. Romain with a BS in business administration with a concentration in finance.

“Both of these young singers have continued their music study throughout their time at Centenary while pursuing other majors,” says Odom, Dean of the Hurley School of Music. “I am really proud of the work they have done. This program shows both the serious and the lighter side of the music they have studied. I look forward to this entertaining presentation.”

Davis, whose hometown is Shreveport, is the 2016-2017 President of the Centenary Camerata vocal ensemble. He is also the Vice President of Finance for the Student Government Association and the Male Vice President for the Centenary College Choir. A member of Tau Kappa Epsilon, Davis is also active in Centenary’s Christian Leadership Center.

St. Romain, from San Antonio, is the 2016-2017 President of the Centenary College Choir. He is a Resident Assistant at Centenary and a member of the College’s Strategic Planning Committee.  St. Romain is also a member of Centenary Camerata, Tau Kappa Epsilon, and is active in Marjorie Lyons Playhouse’s Alan’s Hot Tub Improv Troupe. He is currently studying for the Chartered Financial Analyst Exam 1 in December of 2017. Following graduation, he hopes to settle in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

The recital will be accompanied by Dan Ley, Centenary College’s Staff Accompanist.
