The Department of Education offers several unique education programs at the undergraduate level.
Students interested in teaching elementary school may pursue a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science. Upon graduation, students in these programs are certified to teach grades 1-5.
- Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a concentration in Community and Social Justice. Students in this program gain the knowledge and skills to be responsive to regional socio-economic and cultural issues.
- Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.). Students in this program gain the knowledge and skills to fill the high need areas in S.T.E.M. focused education.
Students interested in teaching vocal music may pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Music Education. Students completing this degree are certified to teach Kindergarten through grade 12.
Students interested in teaching middle school or high school may pursue a Minor in Secondary Education. Students in these programs may also add a concentration in S.T.E.M. or Community and Social Justice. Centenary offers secondary certification in the following content areas:
