Soprano Nancy Carey teaches voice and diction courses at Centenary College. She holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from Centenary College, a Master of Music degree from Louisiana State University, and is completing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at University of Memphis. Nancy has recently been featured in principal roles with Opera Memphis and Shreveport Opera, and as a soloist with South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and Shreveport Symphony Orchestra. In summer 2018 she was selected as a Teaching Fellow with the International Performing Arts Institute in Germany, where she also performed with the Musikkapelle Kiefersfelden.

In addition to being a lifelong performer, Nancy is an ethnomusicologist whose research focuses on the relationship between Cajun song traditions and the sustainability of Louisiana’s francophone cultures.

She has taught music theory for the University of Memphis, and currently teaches music theory for the Centenary Suzuki School, the Shreveport Chamber Music Clinic, the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
