Sally Horak has held the position of principal flute of the Shreveport Symphony since 1989. She has appeared as a soloist with the orchestra numerous times, a highlight being a performance in 2004 as the Pied Piper in John Corigliano’s The Pied Piper Fantasy.

An active performer in the Shreveport area, Ms. Horak is also principal flutist of the Longview, Marshall, South Arkansas, and Texarkana Symphony Orchestras. She is a member of the Baroque Artists of Shreveport and the Shreveport Symphony Woodwind Quintet. She holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Flute Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with Maurice Sharp. Her orchestral career has taken her to the San Francisco Bay Area, Minneapolis, Guadalajara and Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico. She has also participated in the Classical Music Seminar in Eisenstadt, Austria, The Superior String Alliance in Upper Michigan, and the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music in Santa Cruz, California. Ms. Horak is on the adjunct faculty of Centenary College and maintains a private flute studio. She was the recipient of the Shreveport Regional Arts Council’s Fellowship in Music for the year 2000. She is married to hornist/composer Tom Hundemer.
