Academic Scholarships

Nancy M. Christian Scholarships—covers full tuition and has a waiver of a double room (except for Rotary) and full meal plan.  Selected scholars will be invited to campus for Scholars Weekend to interview for the for one of our premier scholarships. Strength of high school curriculum, weighted core grade point average, standardized test scores, quality of the essay, range and type of extracurricular activities, maturity, and leadership capacity are all factors considered in the selection.  This scholarship is renewable for three years for full-time students who maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

Jackson Scholarship for Excellence— amounts vary.  Selected scholars will be invited to campus for Scholars Weekend to interview for the for one of our premier scholarships. Strength of high school curriculum, weighted core grade point average, standardized test scores, quality of the essay, range and type of extracurricular activities, maturity, and leadership capacity are all factors considered in the selection.  This scholarship is renewable for three years for full-time students who maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

1825 Scholars Scholarship—amounts vary. Selected scholars will be invited to campus for Scholars Weekend to interview for the Nancy M. Christian Scholarship. Strength of high school curriculum, weighted core grade point average, standardized test scores, quality of the essay, range and type of extracurricular activities, maturity, and leadership capacity are all factors considered in the selection.  This scholarship is renewable for three years for full-time students who maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

President’s Scholarship—$20,000 awarded annually to students have a weighted core grade point average of 3.7. Recipients must have an ACT of 28 or SAT of 1310. This scholarship is renewable for three years for full-time students.

Dean’s Scholarship—$15,000 awarded annually to students who have a weighted core grade point average of 3.3. Recipients must an ACT of 25 or SAT of 1200. This scholarship is renewable for three years for full-time students.

Trustee’s Scholarship—$10,000 awarded annually to students who have a weighted core grade point average of 3.0. Recipients must have an ACT of 22 or SAT of 1100. This scholarship is renewable for three years for full-time students.

Centenary Award—discretion of Admissions Director.

The Equalization Grant (TEG)—$5,000 awarded annually to students who have a weighted core grade point average of 3.0 and are residents of states other than Louisiana.

Campus Visit Award--$2500-$5000 awarded annually to students who make an official visit to the campus prior to enrolling.

Hurley School of Music Scholarship—The School of Music offers awards for majors as well as smaller awards for non-music majors who participate in one of Centenary’s ensembles. Auditions are required for the competitive awards.

Artistic Merit Awards for Choir, Theatre, Communication and Art—Applicants should contact the appropriate office to schedule an audition or to present a portfolio.

United Methodist Minister’s Dependent Grant—A $5000 annual grant is awarded to full-time students who are dependents of a United Methodist Minister.

Centenary College Grants (Out of State Grant and Methodist Grant)—From the earnings of the endowment, Centenary awards renewable grants.  Applicants must be a full-time student in good academic standing.

Room Waiver—Waives the cost of a double room in any dorm except for Rotary.  Awarded to students whose permanent home address is in the 710-711 zeip code range of northwest Louisiana at time of application.

Legacy Award--$1000 available to direct descendants of Centenary alumni (grandparent, parent or sibling).

Application Process

The admissions application serves as the scholarship application.  Therefore, every student who applies for admission is automatically considered for scholarship assistance.
