Centenary announces summer piano preparatory program
SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College's Hurley School of Music is now enrolling students for the Summer 2016 Centenary Piano Preparatory Program (CPPP) with two sessions beginning on May 2. Students may choose between a four-week session in May or the longer twelve-week session ending July 21. Students ages five through 18 are eligible for the program.
Director Natasha Miller and instructor Cara Lamb, a Centenary alumna, teach CPPP students in two studios at the Hurley School of Music. Miller is a graduate of Arkhangelsk Pedagogical College in Russia and the holder of a certificate in Piano Pedagogy from Stephen F. Austin University. Lamb was the holder of the Hurley School of Music's highest honor, the Mary C. White Scholarship, and won the Monroe Symphony League Emerging Artists competition in 2012.
Tuition for the summer program ranges from $100 for a 30-minute lesson during the four-week session to $600 for an hour lesson during the twelve-week session. Students should reserve space for the summer program by April 4 by calling the Music Office at Centenary College at 318-869-5235, or emailing music@centenary.edu.
Summer tuition is due by April 18. Checks should be mailed to Centenary Piano Prep at the Hurley School of Music, 2911 Centenary Boulevard, Shreveport 71104.
During the regular school year, CPPP offers both private lessons and class piano instruction for students ages five through 18. Students enroll for one 15-week semester at a time, and have the opportunity to participate in local piano festivals and give group recitals in the Anderson Auditorium at the College’s Hurley School of Music.
