Centenary Athletics launches campaign for new scoreboards
SHREVEPORT, LA – Three Centenary athletic teams could soon enjoy new scoreboards with help from a community of online donors. In April, Centenary Athletics launched an online crowdfunding campaign for new scoreboards for the Ladies softball team as well as the Ladies and Gents soccer teams.
“This is a very exciting project,” says Dr. Robert Bunnell, athletic director at Centenary. “It’s a great way to engage our alumni and friends to help make needed improvements at our soccer and softball facilities.”
Centenary is using an online crowdfunding approach to reach new donors and enable sharing on social media. Each softball and soccer athlete has an individual fundraising page connected to the overall project, providing a space to share a personal message with potential supporters.
“Centenary College has allowed me to live my dream of being a collegiate athlete regarding the sport I live: softball,” writes Shreveport native and Captain Shreve High School standout Anna Dunn, now a junior at Centenary. “My experience as part of this program has already been phenomenal, but always has room for improvement. Thank you for your time and interest in helping to allow this campaign to be successful in its efforts to enhance the experience of Centenary College student-athletes.”
Donors can support the scoreboard campaigns with online gifts of any amount, beginning at $5. With two weeks remaining in the campaigns, the softball scoreboard is 41% funded with $3,710 raised of the $9,000 goal. The soccer scoreboard campaign is 80% complete, with $11,235 raised of the $14,000 goal. Nearly 100 individual contributions have been made to the two campaigns.
Both scoreboard campaigns will be active through May 17. Supporters can donate by visiting centenary.edu/centstarter. For more information on the campaigns, contact Meredith Armuth at marmuth@centenary.edu or 318.869.5025.
