BIG Event 11 is coming March 17 • Registration @ 9 AM, Kick-off @ 10 AM

Our Purpose and Origin

At the BIG Event, students, faculty, staff, and alumni all come together to act as neighbors helping neighbors. Together, we work to beautify the surrounding neighborhoods of Centenary College, to show our gratitude for their support of our community, and to allow us to give back and connect with the Shreveport community. Volunteers have the opportunity to choose from various helpful activities, including exterior home improvement, basic landscaping, and inside services.

 

Volunteer Work Tasks

  • Planting
  • Painting
  • Removing trash and other debris
  • Raking leaves
  • Mowing
  • Breaking up tree limbs for community garden
  • Digging holes for railing posts
  • Weeding
  • Stacking broken limbs
  • Removing tree limbs
  • Removing vines
  • Major clean-up in neighborhood parks and surrounding areas

  • Community Renewal's Highland Youth Friendship House
  • Woody's Home for Veterans
  • Red River Coalition's Highland community garden

 

Registration Details

BIG Event will be held on Saturday, March 17th from 10:00 am - 1:30 pm. Volunteers will need to report to Kilpatrick Auditorium (check-in will begin at 9:00am). Assignments will be given at that time.

Upon completion of the day's events, participants are invited to take part in the BIG Event Carnival that will take place in the Fitness Center due to predicted weather. The Big Event Carnival will kick off at 1:30pm.

You may register as a group or as an individual. If you are registering with a group, please make sure to reference your group or organization.

Please be aware that there are limited residential locations that will only accommodate between 3 to 5 persons.

If you are planning to register as a group you may be split up between locations in the same area.

Due to limited seating, TRANSPORTATION WILL ONLY be provided to Centenary students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
